Here's a fun collection of news bits!
1) Adrift was just named the winner of the Evergreen Award! This award is voted on by readers at participating libraries, so it's really special to me. The other nominees were big books by big authors, so being nominated was fantastic and winning is a surprise! I had a great time joining book club conversations with libraries in Ontario over the past year and those all happened thanks to Adrift being nominated, so I was set to be content with that awesomeness, but now Adrift is an award-winning novel!
2) I sold my first short story! A fun tale about a grumpy little maintenance bot on a massive spaceship. It's called "The Glorious Pursuit of Nominal". I don't write many short stories, so I'm very excited by this news! I'll share a link once it's out.
3) I've been invited to my first artist residency! I'll be spending a month in Monson, Maine thanks to Monson Arts. This residency brings together ten artists at a time and provides room and board and then just lets the artists work. I've never had the opportunity for so much time to just focus on writing and I'm excited to see what happens.
Also, I'm very curious to see the town of Monson, Maine which is a bit of an experiment in progress by the Libra Foundation (who founded Monson Arts) to try to revitalize it. The urban planner in me is FASCINATED. Read this article to understand how really unique Libra Foundation & Monson are.

4) Big thank you to all the book clubs I've connected with over the past few months - most recently the Halfmoon Bay Bookclub. The conversations are always lively and insightful and and I really enjoy them. If your book club reads Adrift and wants to have a zoom chat - send me a note!
5) Recent Reads - I finished The Annual Migration of Clouds by Premee Mohamed, a novella that's been on my to-read list for some time. I'm now a solid Premee Mohamed fan - lovely writing, interesting world-building. It was really good. Definitely recommend!
